Binding

If you will be binding your own quilt,

this section does not apply.

If you would like me to bind your quilt, you may send prepared binding with your quilt, or I will create binding for you from yardage you provide.  Prepared binding should be joined on the bias, in a length equal to the outside perimeter of the quilt plus 10 inches.  If I will prepare your binding, please send along sufficient yardage to create 2 1/4" wide binding strips. Please contact me for help determining correct yardage if you are unsure.  Binding width will be 2 1/4", unless you specifically request a different size.

Pricing varies based on options you request.

Thread & Quilting Design

There are many options for the thread color and quilting pattern used to finish your quilt.  If you have preferences, we will discuss those during the quoting process.  I recommend using the same thread color for the top and bobbin to prevent "peek-a-boo" thread on either side of your quilt, however, if you prefer, two different colors can be used.

Depending on the style & density of the selected quilting pattern, cost will vary from $0.018/sq in, to $0.050/sq in.  This includes the thread and trimming to the quilt top after quilting.

If you don't have preferences, you may select "quilter's choice" and then I will choose the thread color and quilting pattern.  Quilter's choice patterns will always be chosen from the $0.018/sq in pattern options.  With quilter's choice, the pattern selection will be reviewed with you before stitch-out.

Batting & Backing

Your batting and backing material should be at least 8 inches larger (4 inches in all directions) than your quilt top.  Ensuring backings are square and the mechanics of how things stitch out on a longarm require this extra fabric.  Please do not skimp on backing size.

Wide-back (108") fabrics are ideal, but you may also provide pieced backing.  Batting can be purchased from me, or you may provide your own high quality batting.  Please see the Quilt Top Prep checklist for further information.

Memory & Celebration Quilts

Memory & Celebration Quilts

Commemorate a special event or time, or create keepsake quilts to remember a loved one, by having a quilt made from selected t-shirts or other clothing. There are various layouts to choose from, and I will work with you to customize based on the fabrics being used.  Approximately 20 t-shirt sides makes a throw size quilt (approx. 54"x66") and 40 t-shirt sides makes a queen size quilt (approx. 88"x96").

Pricing varies depending on quilt size, batting and backing choices, and type/quantity of clothing items to be included.  Please go to the Custom Order page for a full listing of options and prices.  If using baby/child-sized clothing, please request a quote as quantities needed will differ from other recommendations.

The price includes all deconstruction and prep of provided clothing/materials, including stabilizer for knit materials, batting, longarm quilting and binding the finished quilt.

You will receive a comprehensive quote of the total cost based on your design choices.  Your signed quote and a down payment of 50% is required when you submit your materials.  All provided clothing/materials should be washed without fabric softener before dropping off.
